While Herefordshire remains a safe place to live, there are a number of simple preventative measures people can take to lower the likelihood of becoming a victim of crime. For useful advice and information please use the links in the left-hand menu.
A new online community messaging service, called Ringmaster is now available in Herefordshire. The system, which is used throughout the UK, allows Police to quickly pass information to businesses, Neighbourhood Watch schemes and individual households around the county.
The system will circulate a wide variety of information including Local Policing Team messages, urgent witness appeals, security advice and safety information such as flood and snow alerts.
The messages will be sent to you via your chosen method, which includes E-Mail, telephone or text message completely free of charge. The scheme is generously funded by Herefordshire Neighbourhood Watch Association through National Lottery grants.
Inspector Bob Barnett from Hereford Police Station believes there are many benefits to the system. He said, "This system allows us to reach a large number of people across the county in a very short period of time and at a very low cost. We can not only circulate regular Police bulletins, but also important community messages, in the event of flooding or serious incident."
To join the scheme and receive up to date information, you can self-register at www.herefordshire-community-messaging.org.
