New Mobile Speed Enforcement Site - A417
The Safer Roads Partnership in West Mercia has launched a new mobile speed enforcement site on the A417 at Bodenham.  Speed data collected in the area indicated that four out of ten drivers exceeded the 40mph speed limit with 15% of vehicles travelling above 47.4mph.

The new site forms part of the Safer Roads Partnership's ‘Community Concern Programme', which responds to concerns from local residents and Parish Council’s about the speed of vehicles travelling through their communities.  For further information, please visit the Safer Roads Partnership website >>

Community Safety Partnership

Introduction

Herefordshire Community Safety Partnership is a statutory, multi-agency organisation set up to tackle community safety and drug issues across the county.  The Partnership aims to work together to make Herefordshire an even safer place to live, work and visit by focusing on education, prevention, enforcement and treatment.

Herefordshire is a very safe place, with some of the lowest crime rates in the country.  However, in any area there will always be some improvements that can be made to increase community safety.

During 2011 - 2014, we will focus on four key areas:

  • Alcohol and the night time economy
  • Empowered localities
  • Reducing crime through Integrated Offender Management (IOM)
  • Road safety

Partnership Background

Partnership Background

The 1998 Crime and Disorder Act placed a statutory duty on local authorities and the Police to act in co-operation with the Probation Service, Health Authorities and other relevant agencies, to work together to develop and implement a strategy for tackling crime and disorder in their area.  This was later amended in the 2002 Police Reform Act to include the Police Authority, Fire Service and the Primary Care Trust.

So the Herefordshire Community Safety Partnership was established, which then merged with the Herefordshire Drug Action Team in 2004 to form the new Herefordshire Community Safety and Drugs Partnership.

In early 2009, it was decided that we needed to re-brand ourselves, so Safer Herefordshire was born.  However, with the relocation of drug commissioning to Herefordshire Public Health in September 2011, it was deemed an appropriate time to return to our original name of Herefordshire Community Safety Partnership.

Protecting Vulnerable Adults

Protecting Vulnerable Adults

The Adult Safeguarding Team based at Herefordshire Council and NHS Herefordshire believe it's 'Everybody's Business' to protect and safeguard vulnerable adults within our county.  Unfortunately anybody can become vulnerable if they're unable to take steps to protect themselves and often people may need additional support.  If you would like further information on this topic, please visit the protection of vulnerable adults section of the Herefordshire Council website.
