Weights and measures

Many consumer goods whether food or non-food, are required to be sold by reference to a particular weight or measure. The measurement of such goods must be carried out on legally prescribed equipment. The Trading Standards Service checks the accuracy of such equipment as well as ensuring that consumers do not receive short weight or measure when buying goods.
