Completing and submitting an application and fees

If posting a form, it should be completed using black ink. Please return to the Petroleum Officer, Herefordshire Council Trading Standards, PO Box 233, Hereford, HR1 2ZF. We cannot accept emailed applications as all forms must have a hand written signature and enclose the appropriate fee. Fees are detailed in the documents to the right of the page. Cheques should be made payable to "Herefordshire Council". If you require further assistance or advice on whether you require a licence please contact the Petroleum Officer on 01432 261761.

Licence summary To run a business where petrol is stored for dispensing directly into the fuel tank of an internal combustion engine - or where large amounts of petrol are stored for private use - you need a licence from your local petroleum licensing authority.

Applications should be made to the local county or county borough council.

Fees will be payable for a licence. For the latest fees see the document in the resources box to the right.

Will Tacit Consent Apply? No. It is in the public interest that the authority must process your application before it can be granted. If you have not heard from the local authority after 10 days, please contact us. You can do this online if you applied through the UK Welcomes service or use the contact details below.

If an application is refused the applicant may appeal to the Secretary of State.

Consumer Complaint We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the trader by you - preferably in the form of a letter (with proof of delivery).
