Street trading in Herefordshire
Street Trading includes the selling of goods and services in lay-by's or other space in Hereford City, Herefordshire Market Town Centres and Rural Areas, or on privately owned external land to which the public have free access. Consents are issued for traders at regular static pitches. Street Trading is regulated to ensure that all traders are adhering to one set of conditions to ensure consistency, whilst still allowing traders to bring variety, diversity and colour to their units and products to meet the needs of both local residents and tourists to Herefordshire. Potential Applicants should be aware that Consents are issued by the Street Trading Panel who meet approximately every 6 weeks. The Panel consists of senior representatives from the Council including Legal Services, Highways, Environmental Health, Markets and Fairs, and Community Regeneration.
If an application is successful, a fee for the Consent is calculated on an individual basis to be as equitable as possible. Factors taken into account may include:
- Number of Potential Customers,
- Location,
- Proximity of Competition,
- Range of Products on Offer etc.
Before applying, it is recommended you read fully the Street Trading Information Guide and Conditions of Trading.
