Alcohol Orders

Herefordshire Council has made a number of Orders designating areas of land as ‘designated public places’ for the purposes of the Local Authorities (Alcohol Consumption in Designated Public Places) Regulations 2001. The Council has utilised powers available to local authorities under the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001.

The effect of such designation is to provide the Police and the local authority with powers to control the consumption of intoxicating liquor in such places.

To date, Herefordshire Council has made 3 Orders relating to land in the City of Hereford and the village of Madley.

Further information on the legislation and the Orders will soon be available via links on this page.

For further information on the process of designation please contact Environmental Health Commercial on 01432 261761, email us using ethelpline@herefordshire.gov.uk or write to us at PO Box 233, Hereford HR1 2ZF.
