Gambling Act 2005
The Government has changed the gambling regime by introducing the Gambling Act 2005 bringing with it new responsibilities for local authorities.

Gambling operators are required to have an operating licence and any relevant personal licences from the Gambling Commission.
We also issue premises licence, temporary use notice, provisional statements, gaming machine permits and small society lottery registrations.
Decisions by both bodies will be made in accordance with the three licensing objectives which are:
- Preventing gambling being a source of crime or disorder
- Ensure that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way
- Protecting children and the vulnerable from being harmed or exploited
