Food Standards

Herefordshire Council, with its large and varied agricultural base, recognises the importance of food to the community and the subsequent duty imposed upon them to ensure that such food including animal feeding stuffs and materials & articles in contact with food produced meet the basic minimum legal prescribed standards under all relevant legislation

Trading Standards routinely tests food for composition, labelling, misleading claims and nutritional statements.

We work closely with our Home Authority companies especially those identified as either Manufactures, Importers, Exporters and Packers, to assist them in meeting legally prescribed standards, case law and good manufacturing practice.
