Charities and non profit making bodies

Registered charities are automatically entitled to an 80% reduction in their rates bill if the property is used for charitable purposes.  Registered Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASC’s) are also entitled to 80% relief from rates on any non-domestic property that is wholly or mainly used for the purposes of that club.

Herefordshire Council also has discretion to reduce the bill even further.

In addition, it may reduce the rates bills of certain other bodies which are not established or conducted for profit and whose purposes are philanthropic, religious, or concerned with education, social welfare, science, literature or the fine arts.  Clubs involved in recreational activities that are not established or conducted for profit may also apply for a reduction.
